Project Overview

As a self-initiated project I wanted to practice branding and UI design of a webshop, that challenged the way I used to think about webshops—efficient and structured—while designing for a growing target group; conscious consumers. The result was the sustainable fashion webshop.

My Contributions

Individual project. Skills involved; desk research, wire framing, branding, UI design, creating interactive mock ups.

Lots of white space for an airy look.

Process

In the process I focused a lot on the branding, since I deemed the pleasurable experience of using the website more important than efficient functionality. For this consumer group, the ethics are very important, but also the luxurious feeling of having all the time in the world and no rush. Slow living is a subtle keyword for this webshop.

Desk research

To find inspiration I search the internet for websites in the style I wanted. I went for large images, subtle colors and a dynamic layout.

Finding images

When finding images for the webshop it was important for me that they reflected an airy vibe. I also wanted the product images to be dynamic in composition to seem like they are "free spirits". Functionality of images taken in the same way is sacrificed for beautiful, playful images. In addition, it was important to me to have a diverse group of individuals in the photos.

Branding

For coloring I needed some basic background colors and a color that one would notice—only used for brand logo and sale prices. So I ended up with these cool and calm blue colors mixed with a pop of sunshine orange.
